In 2018, a primary school in Stevenage, Hertfordshire approached us after hearing about our work with other school productions, seeking support for the technical delivery of their annual show, The Nativity. Led by a headmaster with a strong passion for theatre and drama, the brief was clear and collaborative, making for a highly professional and enjoyable process. Working within a mid-sized sports hall with relatively low ceiling height, we designed and installed a truss ground support system to safely fly lighting and sound above head height over the tiered seating area, maximising the available performance space at the front. The build included a 12m-wide rear stage wall finished with either black pleated drape or star cloth, complemented by theatre-style side wings. A full technical package was delivered, including theatre and static lighting, sound reinforcement, a 12-way lapel/headset microphone system, and overhead choir microphones. To enhance the audience experience, we installed a 6-tier seating structure for up to 100 guests per night across a three-show run, ensuring excellent sightlines throughout. The production was met with outstanding feedback, leading to continued collaboration over the following three years, with increasingly ambitious shows including Sister Act and culminating in The Noscars in 2020.
